"Talent Dare: Music" shows me just how tone deaf I really am.

I debated whether I wanted to review this app. As you well know (or maybe you don't), TapCritic isn't your normal review site. Instead of throwing out throngs of reviews, trashing apps left and right, our goal is to find the good apps--high-profile as well as hidden gems--and let you know which ones are worth a damn.Using that standard, I wasn't sure if Talent Dare: Music was up to snuff. It's not the greatest designed app, it's not pushing technology, and it has a shelf life of about ten minutes.
Still, I enjoyed playing with it for that ten minutes, and I thought it was a kind of fun and informative idea.
The concept is simple. Talent Dare: Music functions as a testing mechanism to let you know how good you are at deciphering pitch. The "game" plays different tones and asks you to identify which has the higher pitch. At first it's easy, but it gets difficult really fast.
When you invariably screw up, the app grades you. More than that, it tells you what percentile you fall into among the hearing public and how far apart (hz wise) the two sounds were that brought you down.
It's damn interesting. Is it worth $0.99? Maybe not, but if you've got cash to spare, take a gander.
You can buy Talent Dare: Music HERE.
