Terminate Me! No seriously...I want it. Bad.

It's a really simple concept...take pictures of your friends, and then find out what they would look like as Skynet's disciples in various states of disrepair.
When I first saw this one, I noted that the pictures on the iTunes store were cool, but I was convinced that real-life pictures--you know, your friend with the messed up face and the squinty, stoned-out eyes--would result in cheesy, bad looking Terminators. For the most part, I was wrong. The app does a really good job of carefully choosing where to begin and end the battle damage, and the ensuing pictures, while still somewhat crude, are fantastic for the amount of time you put into them. The hardest part of this app is resizing and lining up the picture at the outset. Once you take a picture or import a photo from your picture library (or even use the cool facebook connection function), you are asked to line up the eyes and mouth with target points. It's very clearly defined, but it can be maddening to try and get things to line up well.
Or maybe I'm just way too uptight about getting everything perfect. The one issue I have with this app is that it's a little hard to resize pictures. The iPhone seems to have trouble figuring out if you want to rotate or resize, and I think this would be made a lot easier if the app offered a slider control for resizing. It's a minor point, but one that should at least be addressed.
Once you are lined up, though, the fun begins. Click different areas of the face to see damage slowly appear. Each tap increases the amount of metal showing, and your friend becomes more and more Terminator-ish.
Once you've built your perfect killing machine, click the "save" button to save the picture, sans interface, to your camera role.Different face types can screw up the placement of the damage, but that's to be expected. For a fun, free app, this one does what it should...it entertains you and gives you and your buddies a good laugh.
And it really gets you jazzed for the movie...which is kind of the point. This makes no bones about being a promotional app. If all commercials were this cool, I probably wouldn't mind them.
Until next time, "Hasta la vista...baby."
