Monopoly Here & Now: World Edition - Take a chance.

new_mon_hdrmon_iconOne of my earliest memories was wanting to play Monopoly with my sisters. I was probably four or five, not quite old enough to comprehend the gameplay just yet. I probably just wanted to play with the car and the little houses. You see, video game systems weren't around yet and that made board games the king of the hill. When I finally got old enough to play, we had some SERIOUS Monopoly competitions in the Pence household.

mon1Over the years, I've played this game with my parents, siblings, nephews and my own children. I've also played many digital versions of this title. I guess you can say I'm a Monopoly Aficionado. When I heard EA Games was coming out with Monopoly for the iphone, I knew I had review it. EA had done a incredible job with SimCity on the iPhone, so I was excited to see what they had done with Monopoly.

THE GAME.

Monopoly Here & Now: World Edition, is an update to the classic we all grew up with. mon2The classic properties have been replaced with world locations and these properties now cost millions instead of $400. Some people have complained about this. Personally, I like the updated feel. The gameplay itself is pretty much the same as the original. The graphics and sound are nice, but nothing too earth shattering. That's not a bad thing, it's Monopoly for goodness sakes! The animation of your player piece moving is fun and I love shaking the iPhone to roll the dice.

mon3The only complaints that I have all involve the multiplayer Wi-Fi. Sometimes, the music will hiccup, this seems to happen when connecting and sometimes while chatting. I LOVE the chat feature, but sometimes it seems REALLY slow. Also, I'd love to see the dice being rolled by the other player, instead a small number appearing on screen. I know EA takes user comments seriously, and I'm sure they will address these issues in future updates.

CONCLUSION.

If you grew up a Monopoly fan like me, I think you'll love EA's updated version. It's a charming version of the classic.
