When I first heard Gameloft was releasing a shooting-style game for the iPhone, I immediately got excited. I have been playing shooting-style videogames since their incarnation. All you whippersnappers out there probably remember Duck Hunt as the first shooting-style videogame. However, my experience with this genre goes back just a little bit farther. My first love with shooting-style videogames started Christmas morning of 1977. I was eight years old, and Santa gave the Pence family a Coleco Telstar Ranger. This all-in-one gaming system had tennis, hockey, skeet and target. The latter two being shooting games.

Our family spent countless hours playing this game. The light gun felt great in your hand while you were shooting a 100 x 100 white square on a black screen. All was great in Penceville until my sister figured out that I had cheated to get the high score. On the early Coleco shooting games you could simply shoot the score to register a hit. I played this system pretty much for a whole year until we got a Atari 2600 the following Christmas. I've basically played 90% of shooting games ranging in scope from the Coleco Telsar Ranger, Operation Wolf, House of the Dead to current day shooting games like ones included in Wii Play. All of these games have been great to play, but were missing the original inner-child excitement that I had with games like Target and Carnival on the ColecoVision.
GAMELOFT TO THE RESCUE.
Load up your six-shooter and hit those balloons.Wild West Guns is honestly a fun game to play. Before Star Wars hit the scene, cowboys and indians are what we played outside as kids. The simplicity of this game reminds me of the early nostalgic days of video games. Gameloft takes this recipe and adds a kick-butt soundtrack and awesome graphics to match.
Can you keep those cans in the air for 45 seconds cowboy? The mini-games included in this App are simple yet addictive. It still amazes me that some developers are surprised that mini-games are so popular. Gameloft has had this figured out for a while. Some different games types in Wild West Guns are moving targets, flying sombreros, train attack, tin can shoot, balloon escape and saloon fight. The train attack is one of my favorites. You ride on horseback, shooting bad guys off a train. It's as simple as that, yet it is so much fun. You'll feel cooler than Clint Eastwood in Outlaw Josey Wales.
Oh boy, better re-load.The tin can shoot mini-game has three tin-cans you have to keep in the air with your six-shooter, all while taking care of the bad guys in the process. If that doesn't make you feel manly, I don't know what will.

CONCLUSION.
Once again Gameloft has focused on great gameplay bundled with first rate music, sound effects and graphics. The $4.99 price tag is well worth this well-devoloped game. The games are addictive and will keep you coming back for more. Plus, you can't cheat just buy shooting at the score.
