Nunchaku: A virtual nunchuck. Yes.  Hmmm.

nunchaku_icon_smallWhen I saw that Chudigi Software was offering a virtual nunchuck application, I had to get it.  I had to see what it was.  I knew it would be goofy and silly, but I like a lot of goofy and silly apps (read iGirl, Pocket Arnold, and Hammer Time).  So I downloaded the $.99 app with glee.  And then I was horribly disappointed.

img_00026When you open it, you get fun drums and a title page.  Click the title page, and you are taken into the app...which is a single stationary nunchuck handle attached via a "chain" to a rotating nunchuck handle.

That's it.  No options for different styles or colors, just a pretty lame nunchuck that moves in a circle based on the position of the iPhone.  It's always 100% taut, and it moves in two dimensions.

There are some fun sounds thrown in for good measure...whoosh's and kiyah!'s, but it's not entertaining enough to hold the app up.

I know it's supposed to be a dumb app, but for $.99 I expect something.  At least give me customizable colors or customizable sounds.  Let me program in my own war cries.  Give me something, guys.

It did give my fellow TapCritics and I an idea, though.  We're going to make an app called "iThrowing Star."  It's actually just a picture of a throwing star.  Then you chuck your phone at your friend's face.  Hilarity ensues.

If this app is worth $.99, I think we can get at least $1.99 for ours.

You can buy Nunchaku HERE.
