Pckt xprss: We hardly knew ye.

no_more_px_hdrWow! It's hard to believe that we've been at this for just over a month!  This site isn't any of our day jobs, but it has become something about which we all care deeply.  And that is why, after much deliberation, we're instating a new policy here at TapCritic:

Any and all comments left mentioning Pckt xprss will be summarily disemvoweled.

If this doesn't mean anything to you, please enjoy the rest of your day.  If you'd like to know the reasons for our decison, continue after the break.

Here's what it boils down to: HAL9000, Mr. Pence, SquareRhino, and I care a lot about how this site moves forward in the next few months.  We talk all day about what we're going to do next for the site, and we meet weekly to come up with new ideas that we can use to drive traffic to the site.

That being said, we care a lot about our readers, too.  We know that our readership is a small percentage of the entire internet population, but we want their experience here to be informative and rewarding.  Everything that we publish to the site is done with the honest hopes that our readers will leave feeling better informed or at least tipped-off.  Have we managed to save anyone $0.99?  Or $9.99? Who knows.  But, even when we pan an app that's Free to download (and therefore has very little warrant for criticism) we do so knowing that we've hopefully prevented someone from wasting their time.  And so, we hope that any new readers that join us today will look at this article and appreciate the decision we've made.

Wasting our readers time is a capital offence.  We've recently seen an incredible influx of comments regarding an app that we've reviewed fairly glowingly.  At first, it was a few semi-informative comments about how Pckt xprss was superior to another app we reviewed, or just a single-sentence comment in a review that happened to mention Pckt xprss; usually no more than, "I've got to say I love Pckt xprss!"

And then, last week, we were hit with a deluge.

We don't get many comments.  This is unfortunate because we genuinely enjoy being in dialogues with people about iPhone and iPod Touch apps.  But when we see a rash of comments crop up, all regarding a single app we haven't reviewed in a week, we start to get suspicious.  "Should we just let them be?" we asked each other.  But then the comments started to get snarky, sarcastic, and even less informative.

Our comment section was looking like a stretch of highway outside of a Florida tourist trap. And that tourist trap is Pckt xprss.

So, we're sorry to any loyal Pckt xprss users that come to our site daily, weekly, or even once.  We have stated our opinions on the app, and we stand by them.  However, we refuse to let our fledgling site become like an unwitting long-haul trucker's rear door: 'Wash Me!' written in the dirt and 'Pckt xprss wuz here!' comments will--from now on--be stripped of vowels.

If your comment contains the app-in-question's name, it will be disemvoweled. It may not be fair, but it isn't fair that our site became the plinking range for Hndmrk and their cohort.

We welcome all comments. Just be prepared to have your vowels sent packing.
