Hippo High Dive is a designer’s dream

Squarerhino, the man behind everything TapCritic, pointed this app out to me. Was he blown away by the gameplay? Were the graphics mind-bendingly awesome? Nope, he was a big fan of the design.

A game’s design is often overlooked in some reviews, but I’d argue that a fun, cool design is almost as important as the gameplay, itself. Games like Plants vs. Zombies have made it into the top 25 because of their cute interfaces and fun stories. While Hippo High Dive doesn’t do much with its story, the gameplay is fun, and the design is outstanding.
