Uforoids: Can someone get me a “how to” manual?

Uforoids_icon_small Has it ever happened to you that you launch an app, stare at the screen, start pushing buttons, and can’t, for the life of you, determine what you’re supposed to do? That’s the case with Uforoids by Coding Dutchmen. But once you figure it out (dumbass me ignored the “help” screen), it’s fairly fun.

You know me…always obsessed with the simple joys in life. This app fits right in with that philosophy, giving me a laid back game of picking up space debris and shooting it at evil asteroids.

You are a floating, slow-moving UFO that can be dragged across the screen. Your goal is to pick up tiny floating pieces of colored rock (they are attracted to your force field) and to shoot those at the other larger and more dangerous pieces of rock. You do this by tapping your UFO.

Then the other pieces of rock explode into smaller pieces, and you eventually break them down until they are small enough to use as ammo. If you break down all the evil space rocks, you proceed to the next level.

Got it? Good.

Overall, there is very little bad I can say about this one. The UFO moves slowly and so do the larger space rocks, so the result is a relaxing but challenging game with very little “edge of your seat” excitement. It can get a little bit boring, but such is the price of simplicity.

Speaking of price, did I mention the cost of this little ditty? FREE (for a limited time). That’s right, 100% FREE to the public. For that cost, these developers did a bang-up job.

I just wish I had been smart enough to look at the “help” page a little sooner.

If I could change one thing, I would make the game able to save itself. As is, if you exit out of the game and return you must start from square one. It would be nice to have a feature that lets you pick up from any previously conquered level.

I won’t complain too loudly…I like free stuff, and Uforoids zens me out. Even if it does have a somewhat unfortunate name.
