This…is…JEOPARDY!

When I was a kid, we had a handheld game of “Jeopardy.” It sucked. There weren’t enough questions, it was bulky, and the gameplay was lackluster.

More important than that, though, it was frustrating. Things that worked on the show didn’t work well in the game. Trying to beat a computer to the buzzer on an answer you know but have to take time to read didn’t seem right…I’d get buzzed out before I even finished the question, sometimes!

Also, the game had a bulky keypad for entering answers. It would take forever to enter a response, and if your formatting was off from the pre-programmed format, you lost.

All those problems are gone with this new version for the iPhone and iPod Touch. There is a sleek interface complete with multiple choice questions, daily doubles, and the option to “pass” on questions you don’t know. That ends up meaning that the game is less like “Jeopardy” than the handheld game I had as a kid, but it sure is more fun to play.
