WordsWorth: It increases your four-letter-word vocabulary.

I hate word searches, spelling games, crossword puzzles and almost all other word-oriented games. It seems that when you get stuck, there is no hope, and it frustrates me. On the other hand, WordsWorth, by 99 Games, has enough going on to keep me playing and an option for when I get stuck. So, although it will not occupy the pantheon of “my favorite games,” it will stay on my home screen.

Game design and play is great, and the little “linking the letters” feature is a nice touch. Also, I like the fact that the app comes with in-depth, detailed directions that got me caught up in less than five minutes. The programming of the “wild-card” tiles works great, and the spinning clock-of-death letters make me hyperventilate–especially when they start sounding the alarm.
The developer could spice up the graphics, add additional features, or work on adding a story, but what would be the point? The game is what it is, designed for playing in airports, on buses, or while screwing around at work and trying to look serious. It’s a “pick up and put down” game that is there to help expand vocabulary and keep you entertained without frying your brain cells. To that end, it’s worth $1.99.
NOTE: There is a free lite version of this app available as well. It only has three levels as opposed to the full version’s 20 levels.
